Byki Learn A Language Spanish
2008
Which language software or website is the best? or should i just take language classes?
Please i need help with this! theres 2 languages i wanna learn Spanish (because my family speaks it) and japanese (because i wanna move to japan in the future). I’am looking at alot of language websites and software like Rosetta stone, byki, berlitz, livemoocha etc. but i dont know which is the best one? And do these programs even help at ALL, or should i just take a language class? or maybe i should do both? (use a software and learn at class) cuz either way i wanna learn these languages as quickly as possible now that i have so much free time on my hands.
Ok well let me help you out with the first question.
Which is the best one? Of the 4 you mentioned, Rosetta Stone is the best. The others are very low quality programs and wont come close to being broad enough to teach you enough. There are other software / ebook programs I can strongly suggest. But let me answer your other questions first.
Do they help at all? Yes they are extremely helpful, and more effective than taking a class…
should you take a class? No, a class will put the pressure on you to get a good grade or complete assignments. A class might likely cost more than getting any of these software programs. They usually aren’t very engaging, and you have to go to them etc etc etc. A software program, you can spend as much or as little time as you want, when you want, and how you want. You go at your own pace, it’s 1 on 1, it’s interactive, and it’s engaging.
Do both? Maybe, if you get a good software program along with some grammar books (in the case of learning japanese youll want a book on grammar, kanji, katakana, and hiragana to go along with software – and I can make specific suggestions for you if you send me a message).
So, let’s get down to it.
If you decide to get Rosetta Stone for both languages, first you’ll have to decide if you want to get levels 1-3, or 1-5 for spanish. I suggest 1-5 simply because 1-3 wont teach you as much. And if you are serious about learning it, you’ll want to get all 5 levels which you can find here:

For just three levels:

On that note, Amazon has the best pricing for Rosetta Stone hands down, other places sell it for $500 (3 levels) – Amazon sells it for $424 (three levels).
Here is RS for japanese:

If you have any doubts from my reviews, amazon has tons of good reviews on both RS japanese and spanish.
As for what I think, I think Rosetta Stone is a really good program, but I think there are programs that are just as good if not better – and for cheaper.
If you’d like to send me a message and let me know how much you are willing to spend and how you like to learn I can give you some very specific suggestions.
For Japanese, I would honestly suggest getting these three programs – even altogether they are still less than half the cost of Rosetta Stone:

http://abclearnlanguage.com/url/japanese/nihongo

The first one I listed is basically a mirror of rosetta stone, it’s pretty much the exact same, but only $99. I liked it more because I found it to be more engaging and interactive. But some people disagree and have different preferences. The others are great supplements.
They also offer that same first one for spanish, which you can find here:

Despite the marketing hype on the pages, these are all very solid programs.
I think I’m running out of space, but I can suggest to you some of those grammar books / alphabet books if you message me.
hope this helped.
