Have you taken a class in Chinese (Mandarin)?
Im considering taking a semester in Chinese (mandarin) at my university next year. I have zero background in Chinese, but I’m bilingual (English/Spanish), learning 3rd language (Arabic) and have taken courses in linguistics.
How much Chinese did you learn from an beginner course?
Any good online resources for learning Chinese?
I am studying Mandarin at my university now (I’m also an English/Spanish bilingual). Honestly, you will probably not be taught as much vocabulary in an elementary Chinese course as you would be in a Western language class, mainly because you have to work harder at learning to write as well. The grammar is incredibly simple, and the language is highly analytical, so it’s easy to tell what somebody means if you don’t know the word. Good luck!
