There are a lot of CDs and programs for English Speakers to learn Mandarin.

i believe that about.com has basic mandarin lessons to get you started. but the best ways are just to watch mandarin movies and shows with subtittles that way u can see the words and hear it being said. also mandarin is very similiar to catonese so thereshudnt be too big of a problem
