How can I become better at speaking Mandarin Chinese?
What is the best way to learn Chinese without moving to the country (I have no money). I have been practising Chinese for 3 years and I seem to be stuck in a rut now. I have been to lessons, have tons of multimedia CD-Roms and a few Chinese friends who can help me if needed. But I just don’t seem to progress any further with the language. Is there any advice people who have learnt a 2nd language fluent can give me. How can I utilise all this resources at my disposal to become fluent. How do I continue to motivate myself, remember words etc etc. Basically can anybody kick start a plan of action for me in order to progress.
Gonna sound a bit funny but I know a few Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese people who teach at local colleges who also run takeaways. They teach at the colleges during the day and work in their takeaways at night. My local takeaways don’t open til 5 and that’s where I saw my chance.
Speaking to a native Mandarin speaker for an hour every 2 days will bring you on, plus it will be cheaper than paying for private tuition, cash speaks all languages.
