Learn Greek Nt
2008

Since Jesus spoke Aramaic and so did the disciples, why wasn’t some of the NT books written?
in Aramaic as well? We know it was written originally ancient Hebrew and Greek then Latin. But where is the written Aramaic language in the original books? The men that wrote the NT books not speak Aramaic? How did they translate Jesus’ Aramaic words into Hebrew or Greek?
I’m trying to learn about the original writtings of the NT and it’s then many translations up to English. Thanks for your input.
Greek was a world language when the Septuagint translation was made; Hebrew as a language was on the decline among the Jews long before those days.
That is no doubt the reason why all but one of the books in the New Testament were written in Greek. During the days of the second temple Aramaic was the language spoken by the Jews of Palestine. “Some of the outstanding philosophic Jewish religious and literary creations were written in Greek and Aramaic” during those times, says the “Zionist Record” (July, 1940). Hebrew was hardly known by the Jews outside of Palestine, where this holy language of the Jews was so little known that “a translator stood beside the reader in the Synagogue to translate the Hebrew into Aramaic.”
