Isn’t it confusing to have same notation for o sound and v sound in arabic-persian script?
Isnt the notation for o sound (as in coat, boat) and v sound same in arabic and persian scripts.. ie “و”
I am trying to learn persian – arabic script and I am getting confused
as per wikipedia
و =vā’o=/v/, /u/, /ʊ/, /o/, /ow/
I am confused…
what about its pronounciation in urdu?
Is o+a=V? (as in hindi)
there isn’t ”v” letter or sound in Arabic ,the Persian adopted the Arabic alphabet and they have a few more of their own ,for this letter ” و “in Arabic its a normal “wow” but in Farsi its a” v ” they write it the same way in Arabic but pronounce it differently as a “v”
