What is the easiest way to learn Japanese/Chinese kanji characters?

I am studying Japanese however I really struggle with the kanji. KANJI really does slow my learning process down. I have a visual memory and usually writing in a language helps me remember sentence structure. But I just struggle with the Japanese kanji. I fairly know about 300 kanji at the moment. Do you have any special techniques you discovered while memorizing kanjis? Or do you know the easy way to learn them? Or do I have to write each kanji hundreds of times until I remember it? Thanks in advance if you have any ideas to share.

A lot of people i know make stories for every kanji, which is a good idea, but if your not very creative like me, i just find that using flashcards, consistently practising everyday, you should eventualy get the hang of it.

I good idea i think is to learn 3-5 a day, and as you learn your new 3 each day, go over the past week or month or something, it should take less than 20-30 mins each day.
