I am moving to Guaymas Mexico in July to learn Spanish. I’ve heard good and bad things about Mexico?
I am 20 years old and I have never lived out of the country, so I am nervous. Also because I have blue eyes and my hair will most likely turn blond there and I heard it wouldn’t be safe for me from some people. I will be living with a good family, can anyone give me insight on what it may be like there?
Unlike in the United States where crime seems to be more random (ie. recent NYC car bomb that almost happened in Time Square), Mexico’s crime is between drug gangs and very seldom affects residents or tourists. When packing, leave home provocative clothes and that will help if you don’t want whistles from the men. Don’t wear t-shirts with English sayings and don’t take your jewelry. Even though you’ll find Mexico quite safe, you don’t want to stand out in a negative way.
The coasts in Mexico are quite hot in the summer but inland areas are usually perfect weather when you head to central or southern Mexico.
