Survey: Why would you learn German?
I’m native in German but I wonder and I wanna ask everyone who is studying German: Why do you study German?
Is it because…
- You have to, because of school?
or
- You are interested in German / Germany?
If you’re interested in it, what made you being interested in Germany or German?
I’d like to know, so lots of answers are welcome.
1. My American-born nephew now lives in Germany. He is bilingual, but his 9-year-old daughter doesn’t speak English. I took German classes so that we can talk to each other when she visits the U.S. with her father.
2. I love operas by Mozart and Wagner. It adds a new dimension of appreciation when you can understand what the singers are saying.
3. I have some German ancestry. I have always loved German food and would like to know more about history and culture of Germany. Someday I hope to visit your country.
